Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets - New Shades

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks have been one of my favourite product launches of the year, with Pink Pong being one of my go-to's for a night out. So, when I saw that there were a few new shades coming out, I was all over them, especially as there was at last going to be a nude added to the range, which was my main grumble from the original shade range.

I'm not going to babble on about the formula of the product range, as I did a full review when I bought some of the original shades, which you can read here. What I will say is that these lipsticks are super comfortable to wear for a matte lip product, and they are really long lasting. So, now on to the new shades on the block:

Nude-ist I was so excited to hear a nude was coming to the collection, as most of the shades from the original collection were very much on the bright side. It's a very pink-toned nude, so much so that it can often look like more of a baby pink on my lips rather than a nude, but it's a beautiful shade nonetheless. I've only had these shades for about a week, but this one has been reached for many a time since, as it's such a no-fuss nude. It applies beautifully and evenly to the lips.

Grand Cru You have to be a little careful with this one, as it doesn't apply very evenly, so you'll have to work with it to get a good finish, but if you have the patience it's well worth it. Grand Cru is a gorgeous deep red, which has a slight berry undertone more noticeable in certain light (as you can see below, it shows up more on the swatch on my arm than on my lips). It's a great vampy colour which will be perfect once the autumn and winter months roll in.

I really like both of these new shades, they are very much at different ends of the colour spectrum. Whilst Grand Cru will look great in the colder months, so I'll be waiting until then to rock it, I think Nude-ist would be a great neutral lip colour for all year round. I love these lipsticks, so I can't wait to add even more shades to my collection - rumour has it, they'll be another nude in the collection very soon!

Have you tried the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets? What is your favourite shade?

  3. I saw these in Boots earlier today and was really curious if they were any good. I'm on a spending ban anyway, but these are going on the list of things I want to buy.
