Birchbox - October 2014

This post is a little late in coming to you, as my Birchbox got to me a bit late this month. I then had a few internet issues over the weekend, as you can see there was no post at all from me yesterday! Ah well, it's better late than never I guess. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so Birchbox have teamed up CoppaFeel to provide you with information on how to check your breasts and spot the early signs of cancer, as well as providing your beauty goodies in this cute pink zip-up bag.

Cattier Pink Clay Face Mask A face mask packed with aloe vera to illuminate your complexion and soften skin. £4.25
I love trying out face masks, so this was a nice little addition to my box. I received two sachets which is good, so I can give it a thorough testing before making up my mind if it's actually making a difference to my skin - I should think I'll be able to get four uses in total out of these. It sounds like just the kind of mask for me, as it's for sensitive skin. Can't wait for a pamper night to put this on!

KMS California Hair Play Dry Wax A spray that adds easy-to-style, second day texture to your hair, with a matte finish. £15.00
My hair almost always looks pretty lifeless, so it will be interesting to give this a go. This product can be used on wet or dry hair, which is good. It does smell pretty strong when you spray it, so I hope the scent doesn't linger around for very long!

Shaveworks The Cool Fix This genius cooling gel lotion treats ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness after hair removal. £11.00
This could be a continuous repurchase if it does a good job. My legs are always really irritated after I've shaved them, and any product I have tried to help this has done next to nothing, or even made the situation worse. Again, the scent is not the best, but I'm willing to overlook that if it stops my legs from burning!

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm A full-size nourishing lip balm packed with shea butter - plus a hint of colour. £8.00
I bet this is the case with most beauty lovers out there, but I have a tonne of lip balms but no idea where most of them are - they are forever being mislaid or lost in the bottom of clutter filled handbags! This one feels really nice and soft on my lips and doesn't need reapplying too regularly, like a lot of lip balms do. I also like that it's a tinted balm - the shade I got, Honey Nectar, is a really nice nude shade, so it's one I could wear with most makeup looks,

Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum A sumptuous radiance-enhancing, anti-ageing serum from Dr Sebagh and Cindy Crawford. £30.95
One skincare product I love to try before I buy is serums, as nine times out of ten they are always pretty expensive, so I want to know I'm spending my money wisely. I'm not sure I really need an anti-ageing serum just yet, but I guess it's never too early to try.

Birchbox Lipstick Pen A fun lipstick-shaped pen to pop in your handbag - or makeup bag. £2.50
How cute is this little pen?! I absolutely adore this. Just like lip balms, pens are something that tend to go walkabouts quite often in my household, so it's nice to have another. This one is definitely going straight in my handbag!

I'm really happy with the contents of my Birchbox this month. There's some potentially really useful products in there, and there's not one that makes me think "I would never use this" which is always a risk with beauty boxes like these. I also really love the little bag that the products came in this week, I'm sure that will be really handy for storing essentials in my handbag.

Did you receive this months Birchbox? What products did you receive?

  2. I was subscribed to the Feel Unique beauty box, but then it got discontinued and I didn't sign up to another one, but I'm definitely tempted to try Birchbox. My boyfriend uses the Shaveworks Cool Fix gel and freaks out when he comes to the end of the bottle, so I'm sure it's good stuff!
