Life in June

Life is good again! After a pretty crappy month during May, we finished off the month by getting married on Saturday 31st! It was the most incredible day and, considering the weather we had leading up to it, the sun was shining down on us. And married life since has been pretty damn good!

We spent the first part of June enjoying married life whilst lapping up the sun in Cyprus. It was a bit of a mad dash to get the house organised and get to the airport in time once we had left our wedding venue in the morning. For anyone getting married anytime soon, I would not recommend flying out on your honeymoon the day after your wedding - give yourself some time to get things together first!

Once we got there though, we had the most amazing time. The weather was perfect - just hot enough, but not like you felt you were going to melt! The people were lovely and friendly, and the food was amazing! My waistline is definitely feeling the effects of this now - I'll be back on the healthy eating wagon after my birthday though! After so much mad rushing around and stressing for so many weeks, it was nice to just laze around and literally do nothing! Most of my days consisted of lying by the pool reading, catching up on blogs and YouTube videos I hadn't had chance to look at for ages!

Going all inclusive, plus receiving some holiday spending money as wedding gifts, meant that we were left with quite a lot of money by the end of our holiday. We could've spent it on day trips etc, but we both agreed that we were too exhausted and wanted to spend our time just chilling out at the hotel. So, after doing a bit of damage in duty free at Paphos airport, I drove down to Milton Keynes on our first day back in the UK (after getting home at 3am!), to do a spot of shopping and I finally picked up an iPad mini with some of our leftover Euros.

Once we were home, we did come back down to Earth with a pretty big bump. The following day was my baby cousin's funeral. You may remember from last month's post that she had problems with her brain and as a result was stillborn at 34 weeks. It was one of the hardest days of my life, and I think the image of her tiny coffin is one that will stay with me forever.

June is a month for lots of birthdays in my family - and therefore a very expensive month! Unfortunately, this year we were away for quite a few of them, as a lot a grouped together at the start of the month. We did, however, manage to get back in time to help celebrate my sister's 22nd birthday. She's trying not to spend too much money at the moment, as she'll be moving house very soon, so we just had a meal out at Zizzi and a few drinks at a local bar, but it was still a really good night.

With the exception of the odd day, the weather has been really nice since we got back to the UK. We took full advantage of it a couple of weeks ago, and had a family day out with my husband's family at Warwick park. I hadn't been there in years, so I guess it's changed a lot and I didn't realise there was so much there. We played mini golf (I may have cheated a little, but I definitely wasn't the only one!), walked around the mini fair and had a picnic. Unfortunately, we got there before Andy's parents, and didn't enough time on our parking ticket, so we missed out on the full day, but I have to admit I still wasn't feeling great from being ill the day before, so I think we left at a good time.

Now I'm really excited for July - my birthday month eek! What did you all get up to in June?

    1. Ah wow I live in Coventry, whereabouts are you moving to? It's really good, more for family days out though as there's lots for the kids. Coombe Abbey is a really nice place to visit and Stratford Upon Avon for a day out xx
