What I Got For My Birthday - Beauty

Since I entered my teens, I've always mainly just received money for my birthdays, so that I can go shopping and spend it on whatever catches my eye. Not too many people in my family enjoy shopping, but I love it, so I think it was win win for everyone this way! This year was no different, and I saw it as the perfect opportunity to cross a few things off my wishlist, which seems to be getting bigger every week thanks to Twitter chats! Whilst I was very restrained during a little shopping trip on my birthday, I went a little bit mad in Birmingham the next day, and decided to throw a little bit of my own money in to treat myself (which went towards rather a lot of clothes from New Look!). As a result, I ended up with quite a few shopping bags, so I've decided to split the haul into two posts - beauty & fashion. As you can see, first up is beauty.

If you read my birthday day out post, you'll know that I went on my first ever trip to Space nk on Sunday. There was so much stuff I could have bought in there, but I wanted to save as much money as I could for Birmingham, so I limited myself to just three things. Very top of my must purchase list was the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm. I suffer from dry lips so often and, whilst my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream does a good job, it can sometimes feel a bit gloopy. So many people have raved about this product, it was about time I gave it a go!
Another product I've been lusting after ever since they were released is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes. I was there for ages swatching them over and over, trying to decide which one to buy (if I had the money, trust me I would've picked up at least three!). It was such a tough decision, as there are so many pretty shades but in the end I went for Dim Infusion. It was the peachy tones that won me over in the end, as I have so many pink blushes and I wanted something different.
After all the hype surrounding the By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow sticks, I swore I was never going to buy one! They seemed so expensive for just one cream eyeshadow. But, after having a little look around the store, the shade Frozen Quartz really caught my eye and as soon as I swatched it I fell in love. It's very similar to Maybelline's Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold, but slightly more gold toned, and the formula is so creamy, it's a dream to apply.

You can go shopping in Birmingham and not have a look around Selfridges really, can you? I made quite a few purchases from here (the rest you can see in my fashion post!), but my main reason for going was to pick up a Jo Malone fragrance. Again, I was there forever trying to decide which scent to get! I really liked the smell of Blackberry & Bay (maybe something to put on my Christmas list - yes I'm thinking about it already!), but the scent I loved the most was Peony & Blush Suede, I'm a bit of a sucker for a floral scent.
Finally, the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette is mine!! I've had my eye on this for a long long time and was desperate to get my hands on it. I even bought the Rimmel dupe, but it just wasn't the same! The colours in this palette are stunning - probably more suited to autumn/winter, but now I have it to hand when the time comes!
I never intended on buying a Charlotte Tilbury Rock N' Kohl liner, but I kind of got talked into it by the shop assistant when I was buying my Dolce Vita palette. I bought the shade Barbarella Brown, as I thought it would go nicely when creating a smokey eye with the palette. It glides on nicely and blends out really well.

Another place I can't not visit in Birmingham - MAC! The Peach Blossom lipstick has been on my wishlist for a long time. I tried to pick it up from duty free when I went on my honeymoon but it was out of stock. I tried again this week and I was in luck. I'm so glad to add this to  my collection - it's such a pretty colour.
One lipstick I'm forever picking up and swatching when I go to MAC is Crosswires. It seems like every time I go in, it catches my eye, but I've always bought something else instead. After picking it up again this time, I decided enough was enough and I had to purchase it. Both of these lipsticks are a cremesheen formula (my favourite in case you couldn't tell!).
My final MAC, and beauty, purchase was the Paint Pot in Bare Study. I've recently filled my MAC eyeshadow palette and didn't really want to buy any more shadows until I got another palette to put them in, so I thought I'd see what the paint pots were all about. To be honest, this was the only shade that really caught my eye, but it is so beautiful. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this!

Have you tried any of the products I bought? What products are on your beauty wishlist?
