MUA Elysium Palette

I hadn't bought anything from MUA in such a long time, but when recently browsing my local Superdrug, I spotted this gorgeous palette which screamed Naked 3 to me. Whilst it's not a complete dupe, some of the shades are very similar and this palette has more darker toned shadows in it, which I much prefer.

There are two notable differences between this palette and any other I've seen from MUA. The first being that they've ditched the awful sponge applicator in favour of a dual ended eyeliner. The eyeliner is ok, it's nothing special, and I guess is more useful to have than the applicators which I never use! The second is that the shades now have names - yay! Such a small thing but it makes a big difference when it comes to talking about the palette!

Top row: Air, Cherub, Charm, Refine, Entrance, Adore. Bottom row: Astral, Grace, Smoke, Seraphic
The shade selection is really pretty, though I think the pigmentation of some of the top row shades is lacking. Most of the shadows have a really nice consistency to them and are easily blendable and buildable. The only shade I have a really complaint about is Cherub, as it comes out really bitty which makes it quite difficult to apply. However, I'm really impressed with all of the shades on the bottom row. They are all well pigmented and are really nice to apply. The black shade, Smoke is really intense, and would be great to use for just that, smoking up your eye look.

My favourite shades have to be Entrance and Seraphic. I am a sucker for a shimmery eyeshadow, and Seraphic in particular is super shimmery, but doesn't create massive fallout. It looks really stunning just on it's own all over the lid. Entrance is slightly less shimmery, and more wearable as an everyday eyeshadow - it's got a touch of Satin Taupe about it, which is one of my favourite eyeshadows.

Overall this is a really nice palette, though it has a couple of "off" shades in there. For just £6 you can't really complain, and it's a great alternative if you've been thinking about buying the Naked 3 palette but don't want to spend all that money.

Have you tried the MUA Elysium palette?

  1. I haven't brought any MUA products for a while either, I didn't realise they changed the price of palettes! I see what you mean about the naked 3 shades, they're lovely! The bottom row shades look really good :)

  3. The high street/drug store market seems to be coming out with some really great eye shadow palettes recently - they're everywhere! I really think they've upped their game because some of them are really providing competition for brands like Urban Decay and Mac. Great post! :) xx
