August Beauty Favourites

I've not really been all that experimental with my makeup this month. To be honest, with being off work for almost the entire month, there were plenty of days where I didn't even bother putting makeup on (and my skin has been thanking me for it!). When I have been wearing makeup, I've kept it very simple. Summer pretty much disappeared during August, so I wasn't really feeling the bright lip look anymore, and I've been favouring a much more subtle and natural look of late.

My go to eye palette this month has been the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. It's a dinky little palette, great for carrying around with you, but contains all the matte shades you need to create a very neutral look. I tended to team these eyeshadows with my bright lipsticks when it was sunny, but I've carried on using it with a more nude lip since. I'm much more of a shimmer shadow fan than matte, so I've been surprised by how much use I've gotten out of this recently. I'm also really excited about the release of the Naked Basics 2 - these shades look even nicer!

My most used lip product of the month is by far the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nude-ist. Bourjois released a couple of new shades to the range, this being one of them, at the start of the month and I was all over them on my next trip into town. Nude-ist is definitely the most wearable shade all year round, and it's been on my lips non stop during August. I love how these lipsticks feel on my lips and how long the colour lasts.

I've had my sample of the Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream for a few months now (it came in the British Beauty Blogger box I bought) and I've been waiting for my sample of Clinique's All About Eyes to run out so I could give this one a go too, then decide which one I would purchase a full size of. I thought I was completely sold on the All About Eyes and that would be the one I'd be buying, but I'm really enjoying using this one too - I can see it being a tough decision. It's Potent is a very lightweight eye cream yet still hydrates my under eyes throughout the day.

An oldie but goodie made it's way back into my everyday makeup stash this month - Topshop's Glow Highlighter. With me being ill and the weather being pretty bloody miserable during August, I wanted something to perk up my skin a little and make it look more radiant. This highlighter is the perfect colour for a subtle glow, and doesn't leave you in the slightest bit looking sparkly. The formula is so soft, it glides onto the cheekbones and blends out beautifully. I'll never know why I stopped using this...

The last of my favourites this month is my cheeky July payday purchase. I narrowly missed being able to buy the Daisy Dream perfume during it's early release - I came back from my honeymoon the day before it became a Duty Free exclusive, so I had to wait for it's shop release in the end! This bottle is the most beautiful of all the Daisy perfumes, it's just so cute. The scent to me seems a little more sophisticated than the original Daisy, which I really like. The only problem is I'm getting through this bottle pretty quickly, as it seems to be all I'm reaching for at the moment!

What beauty products did you enjoy throughout August?
