What's In My Travel Makeup Bag

This time next week I'll be on a plane, on the way to Cyprus for my honeymoon! I'm so excited and, after all of the stress that our family has been through recently, a break away is just what we need right now. So, in the build up to our holiday, I thought I'd share with you what I will be taking away with me. First up is what will be coming with me in my travel makeup bag and, I have to admit, I found it really challenging to narrow down my collection, even only for a few days!

I first saw this Paul & Joe makeup bag on Anna's blog, Vivianna Does Makeup and I loved the Filofax style to it, and that it had different compartments that you could remove as and when you needed them. I hinted and hinted, and was lucky enough to receive it as a Christmas present for my boyfriend, but I've been saving it to use for my honeymoon - is that sad?!

First up, in the inner casing of the bag I have my Stila In The Light palette tucked away in one of the sleeves. It has the perfect mix of neutral eyeshadows, and the slim packaging makes it the perfect fit for my makeup bag. It also comes with a brown eyeliner, which I will be using a lot in the evenings. On the other side of the bag there's room for your favourite brushes. I've decided to take with me my Real Techniques Contour Brush, Blush Brush and Expert Face Brush. For me, no other brand compares to Real Techniques for their face brushes. Unfortunately, I'm not so much of a fan of their eye brushes, so I've decided to bring along my MAC 217, 219, 239 and 266 brushes instead. Tucked away in the pocket behind my brushes is my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. As my skin is quite dry, I don't tend to need a face powder very often but I thought that in a warmer climate I'm going to need to touch up a little more often than normal, so I've brought it along just in case.

In the patterned detachable pocket, I put the majority of my face products. You'll notice there's no foundation in here - I am taking some with me, but there was no way they would fit in my makeup bag! Instead I will be taking a few pumps of some of my favourite foundations in stackable pots, and putting them in my toiletries bag, which you will be able to see on Tuesday. I do, however, have the base I plan on using in the daytime, which is the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream. I posted a full review of this product here, and it has been my go to daytime base ever since I bought it, so I couldn't not take it with me! I'm also taking my usual concealer duo in the Rimmel Wake Me Up and Collection Lasting Perfection concealers. Again, two products I just couldn't go without. If I fancy bronzing up my skin a little, which I probably will do for the first few days before I get some colour on my skin, I've chosen to take the Body Shop Honey Bronzer. It's perfect for pale skin and is also matte, so I can use it for contouring too. In the evenings I may want to add more of a glowy look to my skin, for which I have taken the Benefit Watts Up Highlighter.

I decided to keep all of my colour products in the see-through mesh compartment, so that I could see a lot easy what I had available to me and make it easier to grab what I wanted. For my cheeks I have packed my Sleek Pink Lemonade palette, which has one cream and two powder pink blushes. Taking a palette of blushes like this when you're travelling is great, as you get more choice without taking up too much space - quite often blush packaging can be quite bulky, and I've had to leave behind my beloved Benefit Rockateur for this reason. In case I fancy something a little more peachy on my cheeks, I'm also taking my Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Pinched.

For my eyes, as well as my Stila palette, I'm taking my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze, for evenings when I can't be bothered to do a full eye makeup look. If I fancy doing a winged-eyeliner look (which I doubt, but you never know!), I have packed my Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Liner, which is great for getting a precise line and is long-lasting. In case I do attempt the winged-eye, and it goes a little wrong, I am taking my trusty Simple Eye Makeup Corrector Pen to tidy up any mistakes. I thought it would be best to take a waterproof mascara with me, since it is going to be pretty hot - no one wants mascara running down their face! My favourite waterproof mascara in my collection is Maybelline's The Rocket.

Lips were the hardest thing for me to narrow down. There were so many lipsticks I wanted to take with me but unfortunately the space would only allow for four. Of course, I had to take with me my favourite nude lipstick - L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Julianne's Nude - but I'm also taking with me a good share of bold colours, something for whatever colour I fancy. There's a lovely orange shade in Topshop's Ohh La La, a Revlon Matte Balm in Unapologetic which is a pink-coral shade and a really vibrant pink from the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks in Pink Pong. I'm not big on red lips, so I've chosen to leave one of those out but, other than that, I think I'm covered for every eventuality where my lips are concerned! I still wish I could have more though...

It zipped up - just about!
What makeup products do you take with you on holiday?
