August Beauty Favourites
I feel like August has been a month for rediscovering old favourites. Whilst I have tried a few new things, I haven't really bought many new beauty products recently, and I was getting bored of the same old things, so I've been having a little rummage around in my collection, and a lot of my favourites this month are made up of products that were once loved and perhaps got a little neglected over time.
Yes, I know the Collection Speedy Blush was in my favourites last month, but bar from a couple of days when I was trying out a new product, I don't think I reached for any other cheek product over the last month. I don't ever remember reaching for a non-base product this regularly before, so I had to give it another mention. I love the gorgeous rosey pink colour, and the dewy look it gives to your skin. Plus, it's really easy to apply when you're in a hurry in the mornings. Despite using it so much already, I've still got a tonne of product left, so this is great value for money.
I've been having a bit of trouble sleeping recently, so my dark under eye circles have been out in full force this month, and using my normal concealer on it's own just wasn't cutting it. I dug out my old Max Factor Yellow CC Stick which has done an amazing job at hiding any darkness and brightening up my under eyes. I think this is a must have product if you're struggling to find a concealer that will disguise your under eye circles.
If you saw my Lush Haul at the end of last month, you'll know that I repurchased the Ultrabland Cleanser. I didn't realise how much I really liked this product until I ran out and had to use something else in my stash. I does a really good job of removing your makeup and leaves the skin feeling really soft and nourished, rather than stripped and dry. Having now gone without it, I know I'm going to have to repurchase this before I run out next time!
After having a look through my collection a few weeks ago for my recent drugstore lipsticks post, I realised there was one particular lipstick that I used to always love, but haven't used in such a long time. Topshop's Innocent Lipstick was always in my everyday makeup stash when I first bought it - I would reach for it at least twice every week - but as more lipsticks (mostly MAC!) have made their way into my collection, it's been kept away in a draw & forgotten about, Since using it for by blog post, I've fallen back in love with it again and has been left out on my dressing table with pride once again. It's a lovely baby pink colour, ideal for this time of year and I've enjoyed seeing in the last of this summer wearing this lippie!
One skincare product that has totally blown me away has been the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum. I've not tried many new skincare products recently, and any samples I've had have left me feeling a little underwhelmed, so my routine has been pretty consistent of late. I'd heard so many good things about this product though, that I thought it was time to shake things up a bit, and I'm so pleased with the results that I've had since using it. You can read a full review here.
I've been really loving purple nail polishes throughout summer - I've had all different shades on my tips, from the pastel lilac to a really dark, vampy look. My favourite by far has been the Collection 7 Day Wear in Lilac Daze. I really like the formula of the polish. It's really easy to apply and, despite being such a pale shade, is opaque with just two coats (thought to be honest you could get away with just one!). I wouldn't say you get seven days of perfect wear with though, but it still outlives a lot of the other nail polishes I have, so I've been really impressed with it.
My Too Faced Natural Eyes palette is not so much a neglected product, as I do dip back into it every now and again, but this has been getting a lot more love than usual recently. The shades in this palette are so beautiful and are perfect for an everyday look. I am particularly loving the shades in the "classic" look at the moment (click here for pictures), especially Push-Up which is a shimmery light brown shade, which I tend to wear all over the lids with something darker in the crease.
My beloved Benefit Gimme Brow is sadly no more, but rather than go out and spend so much money on a new one, I thought I'd see what else was out there. A lot of people have really been liking the L'Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit since it was launched earlier this year, and at almost half the price I decided I'd give this a go first. It's a lot different to the Gimme Brow, which was an all in one product, but this little kit has everything you'd need in it to do your brows on the go. I'm really enjoying using it so far, and will have a full review up next month.
