Mini Lush Haul

It's been such a long time since I've been shopping in Lush. I used to be a complete Lush addict and would probably purchase something at least once a month. But over recent years we have simply grown apart - I think one of the main reasons for this is that I no longer have a bath tub at home and my biggest Lush purchases were always their bath bombs. I've been wanting to rekindle my love for the brand for a while now so, whilst out shopping with the lovely Alison of Rock and Glitter at the weekend, I decided to see what else Lush had to offer. I find their shower gels to be a little on the pricey side for what they are so, with a few recommendations from you lovely people on Twitter, I focused my attention on their skin & hair care products.

The first product I picked up was the Hair Doctor Hair & Scalp Mask (£6.95 for 95g). I've been switching up my shampoos & conditioners a lot recently and my scalp has taken a disliking to one of the products I have tried out, and has become quite dry & flaky. I was told that this mask will work wonders at controlling this so I had to give it a go, although I was a little put off my the smell! It's a very strong scented product and you can really smell the peppermint that's in there. As you can see from the picture below, it looks a lot like a clay-based face mask, which is something I've never used on my hair before. You just apply a generous amount to dry hair, leave on for 20 minutes, then shampoo & condition as normal.

During recent #bbloggers chats, I asked what was the best Lush facemask to use for dry skin. The most popular by far was Oatifix (£5.95 for 75g), so I decided I was going to give this a go. Upon reading the packaging, I've also discovered that it's meant to be good to reducing redness in sensitive skin, which is great as I've been suffering from this quite a lot recently. I've tried a bit on my hand and it seems to be quite a sticky consistency. I'm not sure that will bother me too much (as long as I don't end up with more on my hands than my face!) but I know not everyone would be a fan. I think the biggest problem for me is going to trying not to eat it! The mask contains bananas, vanilla and oats and just smells delicious - quite similar to the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub I have previously raved about. Both this and the hair mask have to be kept refrigerated and used within about a month of purchasing, so I'll be having a pamper night with both of them very soon and letting you know how I get on with them.

The final purchase in my little haul was the Ultrabland Facial Cleanser (£6.95 for 45g or £10.95 for 100g). I've been looking for a relatively budget friendly cleansing balm to add to my evening skincare routine for a while now, and this product was brought to my attention by a few people who said it was their favourite skincare product from Lush. It claims to be suitable for all skin types and gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin, so that was a win for me. It doesn't have a particularly overpowering scent, hence the name, and feels very soft & creamy. It may seem like such a small amount for the money you pay, but I've heard a little goes a long way with this product, and it has a much longer shelf life than my other purchases, so you don't have to rush to use it up. I've purchased the smaller sized tub for now, in case my skin doesn't get along with it, but there is a larger tub available, giving you more value for money, which I may repurchase in the future.

There's still so many things on my wishlist that I want to try, and I'm still open to recommendations, but as I'm on a tight budget for the next couple of months (see more about that here), I stuck to just the three products for now. I don't know if it's just me, but staff in Lush seem to be a lot less pushy than they used to be, but are still really helpful when you have any questions, which makes the shopping experience a lot more enjoyable.

Have you tried any of the products I've bought? What have you been buying from Lush recently?
