Life in March
March has been such a busy month for me but has also been very enjoyable. If you saw a blog post I wrote at the start of the month, you'll know I've been trying to make a few changes this month, which has had varying success!
First off was the spending cut. I'd definitely say I've spent a heck of a lot less than I would do normally, which is a slight success, but I've spent more than I was planning to, so I'm going to have to put this one down as a fail for this month. I started off so well with this one. I knew I wanted to pick up a few bits from Lush this month, so on my first March shopping trip I set myself a limit of £30 in Lush and £30 on other things - I actually ended up spending less than £30 in total, thanks to a few reward card points and special offers, so I was really pleased with myself. Unfortunately, it went downhill pretty rapidly from that weekend and I ended up pulling my debit card out of my purse I few times more than I anticipated.
The biggest purchase of all was a lovely pastel pink coat from New Look. I'd had my eye on this coat for such a long time, but couldn't make my mind up whether I wanted to buy it or not. By the time my mind was made up, it was sold out everywhere in my size. My sister had a New Look gift card she wanted to spend, so I accompanied her on a trip a couple of weeks ago, and there it was - someone had returned it! Without even thinking, I whipped it off the rail and took it to the tills. I was so pleased that I had finally found it that I didn't stop to think that I was spending £55 on something that I probably wouldn't have got that much use out of really. So, unfortunately, the poor coat has now been returned at least twice in it's lifetime. You'd think at least my bank balance would be £55 better off, right?! Wrong! I used this as an opportunity to treat myself to a few new goodies from Primark - sigh! At least I was able to find myself a coat I would get more use out of - and it only cost me a tenner!
So, as I said, I have been very busy this month. As it's now only two months (TWO months!!) until I get married, we have been very much in demand for meetings with various suppliers this month & next, to finalise the details of our big day. We've been struggling to find space in our diaries to fit everyone in, and of course it's meant a lot of travelling, so it's safe to say I'm pretty knackered at the moment. This month was also my fiancés birthday. We both had the day off work (he had the whole week, lucky thing!) and went out of lunch before having a lovely relaxing afternoon together. It was nice to just have a day to ourselves after such a hectic few weeks. Unfortunately, that was my last days holiday until the week of the wedding - thank god for the Easter weekend!
Although I have been pretty busy this month, I have found more time to see my friends, which has been good. We've met up for drinks a few times this month and it's been really good to catch up. My group of friends from school are now very spread out throughout the country, as various jobs & uni courses have sent us in different directions, and now only three of us live locally, so it's important to find time to get together and find out what everyone's been up to. As well as meeting up with old friends, this month I met a new friend! I met up with the lovely Alison this month. I'd taken part in a lot of Twitter chats since I began blogging, but I'd never found many bloggers local to me, so I was very happy when Alison said she lived in Coventry too! We met up for lunch and a quick nosey around the shops. It was great to chat to someone who had similar interests to me - none of my friends & family really get blogging, so it was nice to have someone to talk to about it. I'm hoping to
meet up with her again very soon.
The weather has started to improve recently, after a very miserable start to the year. Aside from the odd thunderstorm last week (which I actually quite like, and my boss actually used it as an excuse for us to go home early on a Friday haha!) the weather has been quite nice over the past couple of weeks, especially at the weekends which is a bonus! Spring has now well and truly sprung, so I've been spending more time outside, which has helped with my challenge to improve my fitness which, I have to be honest, I was very slow in starting. Since the weather has picked up, I've been out for walks & jogs with my fiancé. Just in case the good weather doesn't last though, I've started doing the 30 Day Shred again, which I will be continuing into April.
What have you been up to this March? I hope all the lovely Mummys who read my blog had a lovely Mother's Day on Sunday!
