Birchbox - June 2014
After quite possibly the best box ever last month, it was always going to be hard for June's box to live up to, but I wasn't expecting to be quite this disappointed. After seeing a few good reviews of this World Cup themed box whilst I was on my holiday, I was looking forward to getting back to mine - unfortunately it didn't turn up until almost a week after my return (another disappointment as I knew so many people had already received theirs days before), but I thought it was going to be worth the wait. Unfortunately everyone's got to get the dud box at some point, and I guess this month was my turn!
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre This cult French moisturiser soothes skin with natural ingredients and is suitable for all. From £12.99
This was a bit of a meh product for me. Once you open the box, the sample inside is pretty tiny. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to tell if the moisturiser has done anything for my skin by the time I've used it all up. Although I would like the sample size to be a little bigger, I'll still give it a go - skincare is one of those things I do like to try before I buy.
Silk & Honey Shea Butter Hair Mask This deeply nourishing mask protects and softens hair, while fortifying its elasticity. £55.00 full DIY set
This is a product I am quite excited about trying. My hair has had a bit of a rough time recently with my wedding and then being out in the heat on my honeymoon, so I'll be interested to see if this helps at all. I'm also curious as to what comes in the full DIY set?! The only thing that does put me off is that it's one of those masks you use after shampooing - I much prefer to use masks that you apply before your shower, so you're not just hanging around for 15 minutes waiting for your mask to work!
OPI Nail Lacquer - The Brazil Collection A vibrant polish inspired by Brazil's tropical rainforests and sandy beaches. £11.95
I really like OPI but their pretty expensive for a nail polish, so I'm happy to receive on of these. The colour is really pretty and is perfect for the summer, but the bottle is quite small - could we not have had a full size product here?
Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick A sheer, glossy lipstick infused with moisturising cherry oil to leave lips lusciously soft. Introductory price £9.90
I was really pleased when I opened this lipstick up. The colour in the bullet is a soft coral-pink, which I really liked the look of. But as soon as I swatched it, I was majorly disappointed. This has to be the worst lipstick I have for pigmentation. I know it says sheer, but this is practically invisible! It also left my lips feeling a little bit sticky. I definitely would not recommend spending the best part of £10 on one of these!
Naobay Body Radiance Lotion A lemony fresh organic body lotion with shea butter, olive and avocado oils for soft skin. £14.00
I have so many body lotions and butters, so I wasn't really overwhelmed when I found this is my box either. Having said that, the lemony scent is really nice - it reminds me a bit of those refresher sweets that come in the blue wrappers. I'm really looking forward to using this, I think it's a really nice scent for the summer.
Birchbox Brazil-Inspired Keyring A fun flip-flop keyring to brighten up your bag.
It's cute but what's the point really? I doubt I'll get any use out of it. Definitely the most disappointing lifestyle extra that I've had from Birchbox.
Overall I'm pretty disappointed with this month's box. I'd seen that so many people had received a Beauty Blender and I was really hoping I'd come across one of those in mine, but I think even with that it still would have been a pretty average box. And it was so annoying that the item I was most excited about turned out to be a total disappointment. Hopefully this is just a little blip and Birchbox will be back to their best for July.
Have you received this month's Birchbox? What did you get in yours?

I was very disappointed with my box too this month. The products in each box were unfair! I think everyone should have got a Beauty Blender :( x
