Happy National Lipstick Day! I hope you've all been taking advantage of the Debenhams offer today - I know I have! One of my favourite makeup looks during the summer is to wear a very simple eye and team it with a bright lipstick. So, to celebrate this wonderful day (for beauty lovers anyway!), I thought I'd share with you my five favourite bright lipsticks to wear in the summer.
l-r: MAC Chatterbox, MAC Vegas Volt, Revlon Matte Balm in Unapologetic, Rimmel Moisture Renew in In Love With Ginger & Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong |
Another pick from my MAC collection is Vegas Volt. This is a peach-toned coral - basically a brighter version of one of my favourite spring shades, Coral Bliss. The photo below really doesn't do it much justice, as it looks a lot brighter in person - the arm swatch is actually a better indicator of what it looks like! This lipstick looks really good with a tan, so I wore it a lot when I first got back from my holiday.
I had a bit of an obsession with the Revlon Matte Balms when they first came out, and bought pretty much the entire collection within the space of a few weeks! There's some gorgeous colours in there - quite a lot of summer appropriate shades - but my favourite for the warmer months has to be Unapologetic, a really vibrant pink-toned coral. I love the formula of these, as they're quite moisturising for a matte lip product, so they are so comfortable to wear.
A new favourite of mine is Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick in In Love With Ginger. This is a gorgeous red-orange colour. I much prefer my reds to have more of an orange tone to them, especially in the summer, and this one is lovely. As you'd suspect from the name, it's very moisturising, and has more of a glossy finish to it than the other lipsticks I've chosen, but the staying power is still very good.
Finally, one of my favourite makeup launches of the year, the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong. A lot of the shades in this range are very bright or bold (I also have a very nice deep red colour - possibly a favourite for winter?!). My favourite of the bunch, Pink Pong, is a super bright fuchsia pink. These lipsticks are so long lasting, you can wear it for a night out and not have to worry about touch ups!
