My Favourite Dry Shampoo
For around 10 years, I committed one of the big beauty sins - washing my hair virtually every day! I was always paranoid that my hair was greasy and, obviously, after a while of daily washing, it did become greasy very quickly. It got to the stage where I couldn't go out for the day without washing my hair, as it would be a hot greasy mess! I'd tried weaning off my daily wash before, using Batiste dry shampoo, but, although it did the job of absorbing the oil, more often than not it would look & feel like someone had emptied a bottle of talcum powder on my head - I hated the way my hair felt wearing it! When I went for my wedding hair trial, the hairdresser said to me I would need to avoid washing my hair the day of the wedding, so that my curls would hold in place better. I didn't want my hair to look awful and greasy on my big day, so I knew I had to try something to stop me needing to wash my hair every day - and this is where this little beauty stepped in!
I'd seen a few blog reviews of the Dove Hair Therapy Dry Shampoo already, so I thought it looked like a good one to try. I just spray it on my roots in various sections of my hair, rub it into my scalp and brush through. The scent of this product, like all Dove shampoos I've tried, is lovely, but not overpowering, as I know some dry shampoo scents can be. It's not so strong that you feel like you're going to choke when you spray it, but it will leave a subtle scent to your hair all day - my husband has often commented that he likes the smell of my hair when I wear this!
The thing I love about this dry shampoo is the way it leaves my hair feeling. There's no powdery texture to it, and my hair feels like it's just been washed again (without the dampness of course!). The shampoo comes out invisible, so you're not left with white bits in your hair which take forever to brush out. My hair is no longer greasy, and has a healthy shine to it, rather than looking dry and powdery.
Best of all, I have now been converted to just washing my hair every other day, even occasionally waiting another day after that, as I know this dry shampoo will give me good second day hair. The only little grumble I have is that I wish there was a travel size can of this, as I hate having to take a mini Batiste away with me instead. I've never seen one in my local Boots, but let me know if you've spotted one anywhere! Still, you can pick up a full size can for £4.59, which is a pretty reasonable price.
Have you tried the Dove Dry Shampoo? What is your favourite dry shampoo?
