A Birthday Day Out in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Some of you may know it was my birthday on Sunday. After discovering there was a Space nk in Stratford Upon Avon (who knew?!), which is only 30 minutes drive from where I live, I decided that was where I was going to spend some of my birthday money (look out for a "What I got for my birthday" post later this week!). Stratford is a really beautiful place, which I would definitely recommend visiting for a day out. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I'd hoped there, as I also had plans in the evening which I had to get home for, but I did manage to take a few snaps whilst I was there.

We didn't realise until we got there, but there was a festival on at the weekend, so Stratford was pretty packed and finding somewhere to eat proved to be quite difficult. We ended up buying a sandwich from The Baguette Barge, which was really nice. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, as I was so hungry by the time we ate that I just wanted to wolf it down, but it was only plain old egg mayo anyway!

Next came the main event - my first ever trip to Space nk! I was surprised at how quiet it was considered how busy the whole of Stratford was that day - for the majority of the time, we were the only customers in there! It was really nice having the time and the space to just browse at everything on your own though - nothing like my experience in Selfridges the next day! We then did a little more browsing around town, and even ran into Shakespeare's ghost!

One thing we didn't expect to be doing in the middle of summer was looking at Christmas decorations, but there's a cute little Christmas shop in Stratford that's open all year around, and I had to have a look! Christmas in July did feel a little strange, so we didn't buy anything too Christmassy - just a few seasonal Yankee candles and a candle holder! Did you know though, that it's now only 170 sleeps til Christmas - who's excited?! Haha!

Once we were all shopped out, we went to Patisserie Valerie for a little snack. I opted for a milkshake and a modest chocolate chip cookie. My husband, on the other hand, had a giant slab of triple chocolate cake! I wish I'd taken a picture - it was pretty impressive.

To try and burn off some of our food, we went for a little walk down by the river, before heading home to start the rest of my birthday celebrations. We didn't go too far, as it was so busy due to the festival, but I thought I'd share with you some of the pictures I managed to take whilst we were on our walk.

Have you ever been to Stratford before? What are you favourite places to visit?
