My Fitness DVD Favourites

Fitness DVDs are one of my favourite ways to work out. You can do them in the comfort of your own home, at a time that suits you, and you don't have to rely on the weather! Over the years whilst trying to lose weight, I've built up quite a collection. As I'm starting to get back into my fitness routine again, I thought I would share with you some of my favourites.

Claire Richards 5 Step Fat Attack I'm not ashamed to admit that one of the reasons I like this DVD so much is because of the music! As Claire was a member of Steps, it features all of their greatest hits, which brings back memories from my childhood. Singing along to all of the songs does also distract you a little when a tough routine comes along too, making it more bearable! The cardio in this DVD was split between aerobics and combat sections - the aerobics section really does make you sweat! There's also a toning section which I really enjoyed, but found some moves may be a little difficult for someone just starting out - the plank in particular! The moves were easy to follow and they fit them into little routines to the Steps songs, so once the chorus hits, you know which moves are coming next! Be warned though, this workout is around an hour long, so you need to make time for this one. You could skip to your favourite section (as well as doing the warm up & cool down of course!) but to get a real benefit from it, I think you would need to do all sections, as they work in different ways. This is probably the most enjoyable workout I've done, so I'll always reach for this one if I've got more time on my hands.

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred One thing I learned about this DVD - it's definitely not for beginners! I got this DVD when I first started my Slimming World journey and to say I struggled with it would be a massive understatement! I came back to it when I'd got a little fitter and completed the entire 30 days - and I have to say it's brilliant. The way Jillian pushes and encourages you really inspires you to keep going even when you are finding it tough. This workout is a lot shorter, at only 20 minutes, so it's a lot easier to fit into your day. You do pack a lot into those 20 minutes though, so be prepared to work your butt off! There are three different 20 minute workouts on this DVD, each at a different level of intensity. You start off at Level 1 and once you feel comfortable enough to do so, you move on to Level 2, then to Level 3. Personally, I found Level 2 to be harder than Level 3, it may be because I'd built up my fitness a lot by the time I moved on to the final stage - who knows! I ached a lot after the first few days of doing this DVD, but I found that if you keep at it you can see results very quickly.

Davina Fit I've tried quite a few of Davina McCall's workout DVDs (lets face it, there's plenty to choose from!), but this one has so far become my favourite. The DVD is split into four different 30 minute workouts, again quite good for if you're short on time, each with a different theme. There's Aerobics Fit for all over fat burning, Top Fit for targeting your arms and your torso, Bottom Fit which focuses on legs and bums, and Kick Fit which is a brilliant kick boxing workout. There's also an extra Yoga Stretch section which you can add on to your cool down, which I find to be quite relaxing. There's something for everyone and, if you're feeling extra adventurous, you could even mix and match the sections for a longer workout. Davina has her two trainers with her on this DVD and they both explain the moves really well and show easier variations of some moves, which is perfect for a beginner. The music on this DVD is really good and energising, and you can really tell that Davina enjoys working out, unlike a lot of celeb DVDs, which is really inspiring.

Have you tried any of these DVDs? What's your favourite fitness DVD?
