Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes

I don't think I've ever seen so much hype around a book in the beauty community before. Sali Hughes, weekend columnist for The Guardian, has created quite a stir with her first book, and I was keen to see what all the fuss was about, so this immediately went onto my Christmas list, and I was lucky enough to receive it. Now I can see what all the well deserved hype was for.

The cover is very chic and simple which I really like and the photographs inside are really great quality. When I first saw the book in person, I was a little shocked at just how thick it was - I wasn't sure I'd make it all the way through, but Sali's whitty and honest writing style made it so easy to read.

Everything is split into small chapters, making it easy to pick up a section in your spare time - though to be honest I whizzed through the book within a few days, as it was so enjoyable to read - or to find something in particular that you want to read up on. It's all covered in this book, from what items you need (and don't) in your skincare regime, to bridal beauty. She even covers the topics that many wouldn't tread near, such as bikini waxing and how to deal with beauty counter staff.

It's a very useful and informative book, but at the same Sali adds in her own experience to make it a more personal and entertaining read. I've learned quite a lot from this book, and had a giggle at Sali's past mishaps along the way. It's a great coffee table book that I know I'll pick up time and time again. I'd definitely recommend reading this book, whether you're a beauty beginner or just looking to brush up on your knowledge. It's currently available on Amazon for £14.96 (RRP £22).

Have you read Pretty Honest?
