Autumn Transitional Makeup

I think it's safe to say that autumn was now hit the UK. In fact, it's felt like it's been here for quite a while! Did we even get a summer?! Before it gets really cold, and I pull out my really intense berry and red shades, I like to break myself into autumn gently with some slightly softer shades that are still season appropriate. After all, you never know if another semi-warm day is just around the corner(!).

Whilst I don't normally wear highlighter during the winter, expect possibly for a night out, I do still often like to wear it during the autumn just to brighten up my face a little. This is the time of year when I really like to use my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. The powders have a really subtle sheen to them, so they give your cheeks a sort of warmth rather than looking shimmery. Your face looks like it has a slight natural glow to it, and like it's just been perked up a little bit rather than the shimmery, shiny effect that other highlighters can have. Another product I like to use on my cheeks is the Stila Convertible Colour in Magnolia. It's a soft pinky-brown shade, which is ideal for the autumn/winter time rather than a lot of the brighter pink blushes I own.

I have a lot of the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoos and like to use them all year round, but I have two colours in particular that I think are perfect for the autumn - On & On Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate. Metallic Pomegranate in particular is a shade I only tend to whip out at this time of year. It's the perfect shade for that burgundy eye look that looks great in autumn. The Colour Tattoos look great applied to the lids on their own, so they are perfect for when you're in a rush too - just pat a little onto your eyelids, blend out and you're good to go.

You'll see MAC Plumful Lipstick again soon when it pops up in my #AMonthOfMAC series, but I had to mention it in this post as it is one of my all time favourite autumn lipsticks. As the name suggests, it's a soft plum colour. It's the perfect transitional lipstick, as it's the on trend colour but is much more of a softer shade than the likes of MAC Rebel and Rimmel 107, so it breaks you into the plum lip look nicely. Slightly on the neutral lip scale, but still with hints of the plum tones to it is the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil in Keep It Classy. This shade is more of a plum-pink and is a little more of a deeper tone than Plumful, but still ideal for the transition phase.

What are your favourite autumn makeup transition pieces?
