Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette

When my What I Got For Christmas post when up last week, I couple of you requested that I do a full review of the Naked On The Run palette. Of course I was already thinking of doing one anyway, as it had become quite a sought after item around the holidays, but as some of you had shown I feel interest, I decided I'd try and get one up asap. I've had a little play around with this palette over the Christmas holidays and I'm now ready to share my thoughts with you.

First off the packaging is gorgeous. The rose gold around the edges is what everyone is lusting after at the moment, and the mirrored design in the middle is so pretty. It's not the lightest of palettes but it's still really travel friendly. If you think this contains everything you'll need besides foundation and concealer, then everything else would weight pretty hefty in your makeup bag anyway.

Like I said, you get pretty much everything you need in this palette; mascara, eyeliner, lipgloss, six eyeshadows, bronzer and blush, all in a handy compact with a huge mirror in the lid for doing your makeup on the run (get it?!). What I like is that Urban Decay have taken lead from other brands with this palette and make the more useable base shadow shade, 5050, twice as big as the others. Because of the colour, and the fact that it has a hint of shimmer to it, I think 5050 could double up as a highlighter for this palette too.

Eyeshadows l-r: Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Stun, 5050
I think most people will agree that in terms of Urban Decay products, the eyeshadows are the stars of the show, and it's no different in this palette. All have the smooth butteriness and high pigmentation that we've come to expect from an Urban Decay eyeshadow and the colour range is really stunning, with all shades being brand new to this palette. I especially love Dive, with it's slight coppery red tones, I think it's a beautiful shade for this time of year and I've enjoyed wearing it on it's own all over the lid. Dare is a really great matte brown with would be good for smoking out a look if you didn't want to go too dramatic with a black.

l-r: Stag eyeliner, Sesso lipgloss, bronzer, blush
The bronzer and blush are really nice products too. As with the eyeshadows they are both really creamy and apply really nicely to the face. The bronzer may look a little dark for some people with really pale skintones, but I'm pretty pale myself and this looked fine on me with a bit of blending. The blush is a really stunning Barbie-esque pop of pink. It's super pigmented though, so you do have to go in with a very light had or your cheeks are going to look way too bright.
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners are my all time favourites and I have quite a few in my collection. Stag is a brand new shade that comes with this palette, and I have to admit it took me a while to decide what colour this was, but I'm settling on a really dark purple. It's really pretty and compliments some of the darker eyeshadow shades nicely.
I'm not really a huge fan of lipglosses but this one has surprised me somewhat. It's really comfortable to wear and not sticky at all, so it's likely to be something I actually pick up and use rather than just being sat in the palette unloved, as I initially thought. The colour, again new for the On The Run palette, is a deep pink, very much a "your lips but better" shade, which makes it perfect for a Naked palette.

The mascara was the most disappointing part of the palette for me. I'm much more of a fan of plastic wands anyway, so a mascara with bristles was always going to have to work well to convince me otherwise. Although I thought the length of my lashes was ok, but there wasn't very much volume or curl going on, so I was pretty disappointed.

Mascara aside, I really love all of the products in the Naked On The Run palette and would recommend picking it up. It retails for £37, same price as the Naked eyeshadow palettes, but it feels as if you're getting much more for your money with this palette, and if you're new to makeup especially, this will really set you up with a good little starter kit.

Have you tried the Naked On The Run palette?

  1. Oh my God, those eyeshadows!! *heart-eyed emoji*
I was sent the mascara and wasn't altogether impressed, it works better with the primer though.

    1. I know the shadows are so pretty aren't they?! It is a shame about the mascara but I think even without that the rest of the products make it good value for money xx

  3. This palette is so gorgeous! I really love the blush choice. I actually like Perversion when I tried it but it's not a mascara for everyone.

    1. I've seen mixed reviews about Perversion so I guess it just depends on your mascara tastes xx

    1. Urban Decay is more of a middle range brand I think. I guess it depends on your budget, but I think the pricing is ok for what you get xx
