My Favourite Drugstore Lip Products

I'm currently writing this post from my sick bed, so apologies if the quality is not great, but I really wanted to get this up! When it comes it lipsticks, I do love a good splurge at the MAC counter, but I feel like the drugstore brands have really upped their game in recent years and released some really good products to rival their high end counterparts. Here are some of my favourite lip products that I've tried from the drugstore.

l-r Topshop Innocent, L'Oreal Julieanne's Nude, Revlon Elusive, Bourjois Pink Pong, Rimmel 107

Topshop Lipstick in Innocent
Technically not a drugstore lipstick, but it's within the drugstore price range, so I thought I'd include it. Topshop lipsticks have been widely likened to MAC lipsticks and I can see why, with their smooth creamy texture. Innocent is a lovely baby pink colour, which if I was going to compare to a MAC formula would be a cremesheen. It applies really smoothly and evenly, and despite being a creamier formula, has good lasting power too.

L'Oreal Collection Privee in Julieanne's Nude
I used to rave on and on about this lipstick when I first bought it, and whilst I perhaps don't talk about it as much anymore, I still get a lot of use out of it. In fact, I'm probably going to have to buy a new one soon! This lipstick is a peachy toned nude, and is really quite sheer, so it's ideal for every day wear, perhaps at school or work where you don't want to be seen to be wearing too much makeup. The only thing I don't like is the scent of the lipstick in the tube, but I can live with that!

Revlon Matte Balm in Elusive
Speaking of scents, this one is bloody gorgeous! I think people had very mixed opinions of the minty smell of these balms, but I love it! It makes your lips feel really coll and refreshed too! The Revlon Matte Balms are what originally made me fall in love with matte lip products. They're great for those that want to try a matte lip but don't want to go all out, super drying, matte, as these have quite a creamy texture to them. I have a lot of the matte balms, so it was difficult to choose a favourite shade for this post, but I went for Elusive as it gets the most use, being an everyday pink colour.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong
I had to put a bright in there somewhere, and I think this is most definitely my favourite from the drugstore. The Rouge Edition Velvets are ideal for nights out when you know there's going to be lots of food and drink consumed, as they are going to stay put all night and this shade in particular leaves a really nice stain on the lips. It's a liquid lipstick that applies really easily, and after a few minutes will dry to a completely matte finish. The bright fuchsia pink is absolutely stunning, and I wore this on my hen night last year.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107
Ahhh this lipstick just makes me long for autumn! I'm a huge fan of the Kate Moss lipsticks and have a tonne of them - they're really easy to apply, have a long lasting finish but still feel comfortable to wear. I'd say this lipstick is quite MAC Rebel-esque, with it's pinky plum tones, so it looks beautiful as part of an autumn/winter makeup look. It's got an almost matte finish to it too, and the stain it leaves behind is gorgeous.

What's your favourite drugstore lipstick?

  1. I love 107! I have Topshop Innocent too but hardly ever wear it as it comes up a little lighter than my lip colour so I feel like it washes me out but it looks gorge on you! So helpful seeing the swatches on your lips!
