January 2015 Beauty Favourites

I know a lot of people have said January has flown by and they can't believe we are into the second month of the year already, but for me January seemed to really drag and I'm quite glad it's over! You may remember last year I tended to restrict myself to just five favourites a month, but I always felt like there were more products I wanted to share with you, so this year there are no limits!

The one eyeshadow palette I've reached for time and time again since Christmas has been the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2. Not like me, as I'm very much a shimmer shadow girl, but I've been really enjoying the neutral matte look through January, and I feel like the shade range of the second palette suits me much more than the original Naked Bascis. You can read a full review of the palette here.

I've really enjoyed using the Maybelline Color Drama Pencils since they were released towards the tail end of last year, but the one shade I just couldn't get my hands on no matter how hard I tried was Berry Much. I finally managed to track it down a few weeks ago, in my local Tesco of all places, and I'm so glad I did. It's quite an intense dark berry colour, quite like MAC's Rebel. I really love the formula of these lip pencils - you can see a full post on them tomorrow!

Maybelline lip products have been getting a lot of love from me recently, as you can see my other lip favourite is the Maybelline Color Elixir in Caramel Infused. When I first bought this product I didn't have particularly high hopes but I've been totally converted, it's really not what I expected it to be at all. I've loved pairing this over the top of a neutral lipstick, just to add a bit of shine. You can read my thoughts on the Maybelline Color Elixirs here.

My skin has been really red this month, I think it might have something to do with the heating at work being on full blast - seriously, it's like working in the tropics! One product I've tried and tested in the past has been the La Roche Posay Rosalic UV Riche, which it great for combating redness and hydrating skin, and luckily I still had some left in my skincare stash. It's worked really well to reduce the appearance to red patches this month.

The Body Shop's Raspberry Body Scrub has the most amazing scent - if you haven't smelt it yet, I dare you to and not love it. The scrub looks and smells just like jam, it's pretty hard to resist just dipping your fingers in and eating the whole lot! It also does a really good job at exfoliating the skin too, if you were interested! You can read a full review here.

I've really enjoyed using peachy tones on my skin recently, in particular the Hourglass Ambient Blush in Dim Infusion. It's a really subtle blush that leaves just the slightest hint of colour to the cheeks - I've not wanted to go too intense with the blush recently when my cheeks seem to be flushed enough as it is!

I recently reviewed The Body Shop's Wild Argan Oil range (which you can read about here) and have really enjoyed using my pick of the bunch, the Miracle Solid Oil. It's great for anyone with dry skin, but what I've enjoyed using it for most is to nourish the ends of my hair. I just massage the melted oil through the ends, from about halfway down, about 15 minutes before getting into the shower and wash off before shampooing. It's left my hair feeling a lot less brittle and looking really shiny.

I'm a huge fan of the Hydraluron serum, it's a staple in my skincare routine. I tried the Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Sheet Masks last summer (review here) and really liked them, but they kind of got tossed in my drawer and forgotten about after a couple of uses. With my skin suffering so badly this month, I decided to dig them out again and they have done wonders at giving my skin the extra hydration it's needed. They are pretty pricey at £19.99 for four masks, but I bit the bullet and bought another box as they are well worth it in the winter.

What products were you loving throughout January?

  1. That Miracle Solid Oil sounds amazing! I have dry skin so I'm sure I'll use it for that, but it sounds awesome to use for hair too! I think I'd use it quite a lot, I'll have to get it! :)
