Revlon Colorstay Foundation

Move over Rimmel - I think I have just found my new favourite drugstore foundation! After seeking recommendations for a long lasting foundation for dry skin, Revlon Colorstay is one that was mentioned to me many times, so I popped into my local Boots whilst a 3 for 2 offer was on and into my basket it went.

I almost the the store without the foundation. Looking at the Revlon stand I saw the foundation there for oily/combination skin. After a few seconds huffing and pouting, whinging to my husband that "I'm sure people told me this was for dry skin", I looked again and saw a whole other row of the foundation underneath labelled normal/dry skin, It was then I realised there were two different formulas to this foundation. I think that's really good that Revlon are catering to different skin types within the same foundation, I wish more brands would do this.

I like the consistency of this foundation, It's not really runny, and not too thick - I think it's the perfect middle ground. It applies really nicely and blends out to a flawless finish. Some have described it as a dewy finish which I didn't find at all - to me it was almost matte. but very natural looking, I'd say this foundation gives a medium coverage, but can be buildable to a little higher if need be. Despite this, the foundation has a very lightweight feel to it, it doesn't really feel like you're wearing it.

Revlon claim that this foundation lasts for up to 24 hours. Seriously?! Who's actually willing to wear their foundation that long to even test those claims. I certainly won't be, but can tell you that I got a full day's wear from it without flaking or fading.

I am so so impressed with this foundation and cannot recommend it enough. I've heard good things about the oily/combination formula too, but obviously cannot vouch for that myself. The only thing I dislike about this product is the packaging - the bottle does not come with a pump. I hate it when brands don't put pumps on their foundation bottles, it should be compulsory haha! However I'm willing to overlook the major packaging flaw as this foundation is just so bloody good - I just have to be really careful when I pour it!

Have you tried the Revlon Colorstay Foundation? What's your favourite drugstore foundation?
